JD’S LIMITED DESIGNER — HOW-TO PAGE
- By Nova Discova

CREATE YOUR OWN T-SHIRT WITH JD’S LIMITED DESIGNER
We’ve been working on something much bigger — Fox Top Shop Designer Studio.
But instead of making everybody wait until the full Designer Studio is finished, we took a break from the big project and quickly put together JD’s Limited Designer.
It may be our smaller designer, but we made sure it gives you the tools you need to create a cute, funny, meaningful, lovable, or completely one-of-a-kind T-shirt.
Upload your own images, add Live Text, design the front, back or sleeves, choose your shirt color and size, and preview your creation.
And you don't pay once you submit your design.
After you submit, Fox Top Shop will prepare a True Mockup of your shirt and email it to you with a Paylink.
If you love it, use the Paylink to purchase it.
If something needs changing, just tell us. We'll make the correction and send you another True Mockup and Paylink.

1. CHOOSE YOUR SHIRT

2. CHOOSE YOUR COLOR, SIZE & QUANTITY
Choose the shirt color you want.
Then select your Size and Quantity.
Available colors depend on the shirt you've chosen, so Bella + Canvas and Gildan may have different color choices.

3. CHOOSE WHICH SIDE YOU WANT TO DESIGN
Your shirt has four separate design areas:
FRONT | BACK | LEFT SLEEVE | RIGHT SLEEVE
Click the side you want to work on.
You can design just the front, or add designs to the back and sleeves too.
You only pay for the print areas you actually use.

4. UPLOAD YOUR IMAGES
Click UPLOAD YOUR IMAGES and choose your artwork or photo from your computer.
Once the image appears on your shirt, select it to move, resize, rotate or flip it.
NEED AN IMAGE YOU ALREADY UPLOADED?
Click SEE ALL UPLOADS.
Your previously uploaded images will appear so you can use them again without uploading another copy.
Removing an image from your shirt does NOT remove the original upload. If you change your mind, just open SEE ALL UPLOADS and select it again.

5. ADD LIVE TEXT
Want to add a name, saying, joke or message?
Start typing in the text box.
Your words appear directly on your shirt while you type.
That means you can see how your message fits and looks without having to finish it first.
After adding your text, you can change its:
Font • Color • Size • Bold • Underline • Alignment
You can also move, resize, rotate and flip your text.

ADDING LIVE TEXT TO YOUR SHIRT
Type it. See it. Move it. Make it yours.
6. MOVE, RESIZE & ROTATE YOUR DESIGN
Click an image or text object to select it.
Use the controls around the selected object to:
Move it — drag it where you want it.
Resize it — make it larger or smaller.
Rotate it — turn it to the angle you want.
If you decide you don't want the selected object, click:
SELECT & DELETE OBJECT
This removes it from your shirt without deleting the original uploaded image from SEE ALL UPLOADS.

7. FLIP YOUR IMAGE OR TEXT
Sometimes an image simply looks better facing the other direction.
Use:
HORIZONTAL FLIP
Flips the selected image or text from side to side.
VERTICAL FLIP
Turns the selected image or text upside down.
Both controls work with images and text.
IMAGE PLACEMENT: This should be very visual.
ORIGINAL → HORIZONTAL FLIP
Then:
ORIGINAL → VERTICAL FLIP

8. WHAT IS THE DOTTED BOX?
Don't worry about that dotted rectangle. 😄
It's your print-area guide.
FRONT & BACK
Maximum print area: approximately 12" × 16"
SLEEVES
Maximum print area: approximately 4" × 3.5"
Try to keep the important parts of your design within the dotted area.
However, the dotted line isn't a brick wall.
If your artwork needs to extend somewhat beyond it, within reason, that's okay. We receive your complete design and can make final placement adjustments while preparing your shirt.

9. KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR DPI
You don't need to be a printing expert to use DPI.
JD’s Limited Designer checks your uploaded image while you're resizing it.
🟢 GREEN DPI
Your image is in an acceptable range for printing at its current size.
🔴 RED DPI
Your image has been enlarged beyond the recommended print quality and may not print as clearly.
You have a few options.
You can make the image smaller if it still looks the way you want it on your shirt.
But don't shrink a design until everybody needs a magnifying glass to see it just to make the DPI number turn green. 😂
If you need your image to remain large, you can enlarge the original image first, then upload the larger version and resize it inside JD’s Limited Designer.
Try to keep uploaded artwork at 150 DPI or higher.
WHAT IF MY ENLARGED IMAGE IS TOO BIG TO UPLOAD?
JD’s Limited Designer accepts files up to 25 MB per file.
If enlarging your image creates a very large file, converting or compressing it to WebP can greatly reduce the file size while allowing you to keep larger image dimensions.
Most customers won't need to do this unless they're starting with a particularly small image and need to enlarge it substantially.

ACCEPTABLE

DPI Too Low - Enlarge Image by Increasing Pixels
Go to Paint on computer. Tap on Skew, then Pixels. Underneath Pixels, use a number of 2500 and press enter, then make sure nothing is blurred.
Simplest Way:
10. USE MOCKUP PREVIEW
Ready to see how your design looks on the shirt?
Turn MOCKUP PREVIEW on.
Check every side you've designed:
Front • Back • Left Sleeve • Right Sleeve
Turn Mockup Preview off whenever you want to continue editing.
Remember:
The Designer's Mockup Preview helps you create and position your design.
After you submit it, Fox Top Shop will prepare your True Mockup before you purchase your shirt.

11. YOUR CONTACT INFO & SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
When you're happy with your design, complete YOUR CONTACT INFO.
Required information includes:
First Name • Last Name • Email Address • Shipping Address
You'll also find a place for your phone number and:
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS ON YOUR DESIGN
Use this box to tell us anything you couldn't show us with the Designer.
For example:
“Move this picture a little higher.”
“Please center this on the sleeve.”
“Can you replace the text that I put on it?”
If you think we need to know it, tell us. The character limit is set to 3000. So you should have plenty of room to describe what you need to tell us.

SUBMIT TO FOX TOP SHOP
If something required is missing, you'll see:
“Please check the Quantity and your Contact Info.”
Fill in whatever you missed and try again.
Once your design begins uploading, you'll see:
“PLEASE WAIT UNTIL YOUR DESIGN HAS BEEN SUBMITTED. THIS MAY TAKE A WHILE.”
Please don't repeatedly click Submit.
Your artwork, design information and previews need a little time to reach us.
When everything has arrived successfully, you'll see:
“Your design was submitted successfully!”
That's it. We've got it!

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I SUBMIT?
1. WE RECEIVE YOUR DESIGN
We'll review what you've created and prepare everything for your shirt.
2. WE SEND YOUR TRUE MOCKUP
We'll email you a True Mockup showing your finished shirt along with a Paylink.
3. YOU DECIDE
LOVE IT?
Use the Paylink and purchase your shirt.
WANT SOMETHING CHANGED?
Don't pay yet.
Reply and tell us what needs fixing.
We'll make the correction and email you another True Mockup with another Paylink.
You don't have to buy something you're not happy with.
4. AFTER YOU PAY
Once you've approved your shirt and completed payment, your order moves into fulfillment.
Fulfillment normally takes 2–3 BUSINESS DAYS.
Business days do not include weekends or holidays.
Shipping time begins separately after your finished order leaves fulfillment and is handed over to the shipping carrier.
There. Nobody gets to count Saturday and Sunday and come looking for JD on Monday morning. 😂
ALREADY USE CANVA, PHOTOSHOP OR ANOTHER EDITOR?
No problem.
You don't have to create your artwork inside JD’s Limited Designer.
On our Design Your Shirt page, click FILE/SHARE to download the print-file templates for:
Bella + Canvas 3001 • Gildan 5000 • Or Both
Create your design in your preferred editor using the supplied print-area guidelines.
Aim for approximately 150–300 DPI. (300 being the best, is preferred. It just depends on the clarity of the image you want.)
When your artwork is ready:
Choose your shirt → Upload your completed design → Pick your shirt color → Select your size and quantity → Complete your Contact Info → Submit
We'll handle the rest.

A FEW QUICK TIPS
Watch your DPI. Green is good. Red means your image needs some attention.
Check every side you've designed. Especially those sleeves!
Use SEE ALL UPLOADS. There's no reason to upload the same image again.
Tell us what you need. That's what Special Instructions are for.
Submitting your design doesn't mean you've purchased it. Your True Mockup and Paylink come first.
And most importantly...
HAVE FUN WITH IT.
Make something cute.
Make something funny.
Make something meaningful.
Make something for somebody you love.
Or make something completely ridiculous that only you understand. 😂
